P Bass

My son got into playing music quite early, mainly because I used his room as a practice room where I stored all of my gear. After playing drums for a while, he grabbed my old Jolana Galaxis bass and started to learn. Pretty soon we were playing some old Police and Metallica songs together.

The Galaxis is a great bass, don’t get me wrong, but it was time to build something special for him to play. After deciding among Fender, Rickenbacker and Music Man, we settled on the 51′ P Bass body. I got a good deal on an original Fender neck.

We ordered a nice piece of ash wood, a Quarter Pound pickup from Seymour Duncan, a P Bass bridge and some other hardware. I let my son route the body himself.

I asked my printers to print this transparent pickguard from the reverse side, so it wouldn’t get scratched from playing. The drawing is from a book about Faust, illustrated by Oldrich Kulhanek who also designed the Czech banknotes.

The bass is getting some heavy use in my son’s band Limetime. Go check’em out!
