After my son and I built his bass guitar, he needed an amp to plug it in to. His birthday was coming up, so I decided to build him a 100W Super Bass with a switch that turns it into a Super Lead (in case he wanted to use it for a guitar). When it came time to decide on the look of the cabinet, I thought of some of the unusual creatures I always liked painted by Hieronimus Bosc. So I asked my dad, who is an art restorer and artist himself, to paint the head board of the cabinet with some of these weird creatures. The background is from plate silver and gold. The video shows the process.
I used F&T and Jupiter Vintage Tone capacitors, RN65D metal film resistors, a Mercury Magnetics choke, and Hammond transformers. The majority of these parts, along with the tolex, leather corners, handle, knobs, lights, and ‘bells and whistles’ comes from Tube Town.
Also, I would like to thank Dave Hill from Mercury Magnetics who helped me a lot with solving the problem with “motorboating”.
